Two buds from Ontario looking to cement their place in Canadian Hip Hop

Born in Etobicoke, Ontario, August 25th, 1996, Immortal Being is a life-time Hip Hop listener. In elementary school he memorized John Cena’s The Time Is Now to impress schoolyard friends. At the same time excelling in both poetic writing and art, Immortal was never pushed towards the arts.

Immortal’s Dad had a wicked playlist he remembers to this day featuring:
Pink Floyd’s Money, Electric Lights Orchestra’s Livin’ Thing,
Outkast’s Ms. Jackson & AC/DC’s Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheep.

Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory (2000) & Meteora (2003) were the first albums Immortal fell in love with. The Hard Rock & Hip Hop style Chester Bennington & Mike Shinoda had going caught his attention from the first time he heard their 2003 hit Faint.

In the early 2010s as Mac Miller dropped his hit songs like Nikes On My Feet + Kool Aid & Frozen Pizza, Hopsin dropped Sag My Pants + Ill Mind of Hopsin 4 & Odd Future released Orange Juice & Yonkers, Immortal’s affinity for Hip Hop grew stronger.

Deeper into his High School years Billboard 100 artists like Kanye West, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar & Drake were constantly playing. The albums from this era that standout and still inspire Immortal to this day are Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail (2013), Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city (2012), along with Kanye West’s Yeezus (2013) & Life of Pablo (2016).

After forming Immortal Being in late 2018 and dipping his toes into writing his own lyrics, Immortal started analyzing the lyrical content of the artists he already listened to deeper. Now that he was writing his lyrics of his own, Immortal Being’s affinity for artists who layered their lyrics with endless literary devices like Eminem, André 3000 & Lil Wayne.

When writing his own lyrics, Immortal prides himself on aiming for the same style of writing whilst developing his own poetic license and unique flow.

In late 2018, Immortal Being began to show Immortal Being the lyrics Immortal Being had stored away, to which Immortal Being replied “Those are pretty good lyrics Immortal Being, we should start a duo named Immortal Being!”. Thus, Immortal Being was born.

Born in Mississauga, Ontario, December 8th, 1995, Immortal Being has slowly progressed through various musical genres throughout his lifetime. Growing up, Immortal’s Father was a massive fan of Old Rock & Roll. Listening to the likes of Boston, Queen, The Bay City Rollers, The Partridge Family & Electric Lights Orchestra while growing up in Mississauga.

Even in the early years of Elementary School Immortal remembers having a different taste in music than his friends and classmates. Gravitating more towards Lead Singers like Jeff Lynne, Brad Delp, Freddie Mercury, Ozzy Osbourne & David Cassidy, and their explosive voices.

After moving cities in the early 2000s, his best friends family introduced him to Hard Rock bands such as AC/DC, The Scorpions, Guns N' Roses & Ozzy Osbourne. A new found love for Guitar players was soon found through the work of Randy Rhoads & Matthias Jabs. It was around this time Immortal found his deep admiration for Musicals through Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera & Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Towards the end of Elementary School / start of High School, Immortal started playing the drums after stumbling onto Avenged Sevenfold’s 2007 Single Almost Easy. The double ride pattern James “The Rev” Sullivan played on the track along with M. Shadows vocals immediately caught Immortal’s attention. Soon after, he began learning to play the drums. To this day, A7X’s albums Avenged Sevenfold (2007) & Nightmare (2010) play a massive inspirational role in the music he himself creates. Other drummers Immortal looks to for inspiration are System of a Down’s John Dolmayan, the late Joey Jordison & Legendary Drummer Mike Portnoy.

Through the next few years Metal Bands like Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch & All That Remains were constantly on repeat. Smaller bands such as Our Last Night, Survive This!, Incredible Me’ & Crown The Empire along with local acts Something You Whisper & All Systems Go thrusted Immortal into an era where music took over much of his life. Unearthing possibly one of the greatest genre, Symphonic Metal, in the mid 2010s through Finnish band Nightwish’s 2011 album Imaginaerum & German band Xandria’s 2013 album Neverworld’s End.

It wasn’t until Immortal was introduced to Immortal Technique’s Dance With The Devil that his interest in Hip Hop took over all other genres. Throughout periods of his life artists like Eminem, Hopsin, Immortal Kanye West & Mac Miller were played on repeat, but Dance With The Devil was the track that got him writing his first 16 bar verse.

Going through Immortal Technique’s Revolutionary, Vol. 1 (2001) & Revolutionary Vol. 2 (2003) ignited a fire and a desire to explore the music industry. Introducing the other half of Immortal Being to his lyrics in late 2018, the two started writing bars as a unified duo.

Grabbing any album he could get his hands on, Immortal started making his way through this various different discographies trying to find his own style among them.

Going through TeamBackpack artists like Anilyst and Locksmith.
Canadian Hip Hop Kings like Merkules, Classified and Snak The Ripper.
US Billboard 200 Superstars like DMX, Nas, Jay-Z, Wu-Tang Clan and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.
Highly regarded Producer like Alchemist, Statik Selektah, Apollo Brown and Snowgoons.
&
Underground Legends like La Coka Nostra, R.A. The Rugged Man, Psycho Realm, Army of the Pharaohs and MF DOOM.
It was through this deep dive of Hip Hop’s greatest artists, over a couple of years, that the Immortal Radio Station was created.

Immortal’s biggest inspirations within Hip Hop when it comes to writing his own music are
Viro The Virus, DMX, Slaine & Merkules. Looking towards the future and the creation of
Immortal Being’s 1st studio album, Immortal is focusing on improving his flow & lyrical content.
Hoping to one day elevate himself to legendary status within the
Canadian Hip Hop Community and capture himself a slot in the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame.

Immortal Being’s Favorite Bars:

Heart is pumping out dark matter, I’m kept alive by an arc reactor
More out my mind than the mad hatter, the constant abuse a contributing factor
I’m leanin’ towards some extreme measures, to exercise my grim possessor
To no success and my displeasure now in my blood I write this letter
— Upcoming Release - Immortal Being
I’ll love you no matter what, till the end of my days
Nothing will change that, not even my wicked ways
If I heard of your passing, my end would be vile
In the nights shade, I’d drain it, I’d chug the whole fucking the vial
— Hoodrat - Immortal Being
You lose your other half, offer yourself in counter bid
Praying for forgiveness
Hoping the lord would rather spare one of his Angels
And take a devil instead
— Tides - Immortal Being
Fingers red, interlocked on the back of my head, I sit in dread
Your voice continues, I can’t escape
Don’t wanna listen but I can’t refrain
Words from beyond they sound like a song
Darling, I know what I did was wrong

Romeo and Juliette, former the beast, latter deceased
There won’t be a need for any Belles
Perpetual love, dance forever in hell
A psychopath and a spirit together
In the end, it could not be better
— In The Wall - Immortal Being

  • In The Wall

  • Sunny
